Science & Standards

The peer-reviewed research and established professional standards that inform everything Suayves builds.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT)

WBGT is the internationally recognized standard for measuring environmental heat stress. Unlike simple air temperature, WBGT accounts for four simultaneous factors that determine how well the human body can actually cool itself under real-world conditions:

Ambient Temperature Relative Humidity Wind Speed Solar Radiation Load

WBGT has been validated over decades of research and is the mandated heat stress metric across government, military, collegiate athletics, and occupational health.

Mandated by

U.S. Department of Defense

Used by all branches of the U.S. military to govern training and operational activity in heat.

NCAA

Required for all NCAA athletic programs under the heat acclimatization guidelines.

OSHA

Recommended in OSHA Heat Illness Prevention guidance and the OSHA Technical Manual, Section III: Chapter 4.
